Family Devotion ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and website (collectively, the "Service"). Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the Service.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Account information: Your name, email address, and password when you create an account.
  • Voice recordings: Audio recordings you upload for the purpose of creating an AI voice clone. These recordings are processed with the explicit consent of the voice owner.
  • Payment information: Billing details processed securely through Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number.
  • Usage data: Reading progress, chapter history, and in-app preferences stored locally on your device and synced to our servers.
  • Communications: Any messages or requests you send to our support team.

3. Voice Cloning and Audio Data

Voice cloning is a sensitive feature and we treat it with the utmost care:

  • Voice cloning is only performed with the explicit written or recorded consent of the person whose voice is being cloned.
  • Audio recordings submitted for cloning are transmitted securely to ElevenLabs, our AI voice technology partner, for processing.
  • The resulting voice model is private to your account and is never shared with other users, sold, or used for any purpose other than generating Bible audio for your account.
  • You may request deletion of your voice model at any time by contacting us at support@familydevotion.app.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Service
  • Process subscription payments and manage your account
  • Generate AI voice clones from submitted recordings
  • Save and sync your Bible reading progress
  • Send account-related emails (password resets, billing receipts)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Improve the Service based on aggregate, anonymized usage patterns

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored on Supabase-hosted servers located in the United States. We use industry-standard encryption (TLS/HTTPS) for all data in transit. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and are never stored in plain text. We implement regular security reviews and follow industry best practices.

Despite our efforts, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with the following third-party providers:

  • Supabase — authentication and database hosting
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • ElevenLabs — AI voice cloning technology
  • bible-api.com — Bible text (World English Bible translation)

Each of these providers has their own privacy policy governing their use of data shared with them.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Withdraw consent for voice cloning at any time
  • Data portability (receive a copy of your data in a machine-readable format)

9. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes (e.g., resolving disputes or complying with legal obligations).

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by emailing the address associated with your account or by posting a prominent notice in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
